Bout of Thrones: Winter is coming

By June 11, 2013 Bout Reviews No Comments

Winter arrived!

On a chilly Saturday night in June, the hordes flooded the gates of Kingsway Indoor Stadium to witness the battle unfold between the proud houses of Sonic Doom and the Electric Screams.

Dressed in team colours and everything Game of Thrones themed: Daeneres, Brieens, Pirates and Dragons, the near capacity crowd enjoyed the hot food vans, the cold beer at the bar and a variety of market stalls before settling in to watch the Screams and Dooms unveil their new line ups, new uniforms and new strategies.

From the first whistle it was clear that neither team was going to go easy, with strong sweeping at the jammer line, impenetrable walling in the pack and jammers laying on the speed and agility not buy can from i propecia who afraid to engage in ‘Star on Star’ with some dramatic blocks and cheeky taunts as they called it off. 2013 is definitely shaping up to be WARD’s strongest year ever!

By half time the Electric Screams had the lead and the crowd enjoyed live entertainment by Perth’s own Bad Piper. The flame throwing bag pipes and rocking tunes made for an incredible set that included Cam’s special flavour of Side-show Scottish Punk on classics like 99 Red Balloons. We could have easily listened for another half hour, but nobody could wait for the second half.

At the final whistle Sonic Doom had put in a valiant defensive effort with a few well deserved power jams, but the Electric Screams Jammers and Blockers immaculate teamwork saw them hold onto a comfortable lead and ride it home.

Full time score Sonic Doom 96 to Electric Screams 195.

MVP’s for the evening Karmen Adairya and AnneT Social were awarded a tartan MVP cape and tiara (which they both gave away to children in the audience…DAAW!)

The after party was hosted by our friends at the Kingsway Tavern and Bistro who were very gracious in helping us look after our guests by providing free finger food and water, supporting WARD as part of the Healthy Clubs initiative.

As always, a huge thank you to our volunteers, NSO’s, refs (especially the lovely Neon and Wog for coming all the way from Kalgoorlie!) Steve Dodd’s our DJ and sound wizard and our lovely stall holders for all your efforts.

So now that the dust has cleared and Bout of Thrones is won and gone, what do we do with ourselves? PLAN OUR NEXT BATTLE OF COURSE!
