How did you get into derby?
3½ years ago, I was in a very deep, dark hole of bipolar depression. I was suicidal, self-harming and hated everything about my life. I met some derby girls during star classes and thought I’d give it a go. BEST thing I ever did. WARD and roller derby literally saved my life. Derby gave me not only physical activity but support, focus and a break from being a wife and mum.
What is your best moment in derby so far?
Receiving MVP jammer during my first WOTS bout. It was the most incredible way to end the season.
What is the most challenging thing about derby?
Keeping up with off-skates fitness. I know off-skates fitness is important so I try really hard but find it very challenging.
What roller derby goal are you working towards right now?
TGSS and Royal Rumble. This will be my first interstate tournament. I’m super excited.
What advice would you give those just starting out?
Don’t compare yourselves to others. Your journey is your own. Just do the best you can.
